Work experience
Research Assistant | September 2023 – Present
Human Genomics Laboratory
Korea University
Advisor: Joon-Yong An, PhD
- Constructed a single-cell human developmental brain atlas to identify and analyze the cell-type specific and temporal-specific patterns of neurological risk genes.
- Developed single-cell transcriptomics annotation models to predict human brain organoid cell types utilizing the developmental brain atlas.
- Collaborating with multiple investigators within and outside the lab to explore candidate risk genes for neurodevelopmental disorders, elucidating their functions and effects.
Research Intern | June 2023 – August 2023
Single-Cell Medical Genomics Laboratory (SCMGL)
Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST)
Advisor: Jong-Eun Park, PhD
- Developed an automated pipeline for ATAC-seq data collection from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO).
- Acquired foundational skills in single-cell pipeline techniques, including data preprocessing, quality control, clustering, annotation, and metadata organization for atlas construction.
- Conducted mechanical dissociation of intestinal organoid cultures and engaged in organoid culturing through observation and discussions with the research team.
Research Intern | December 2022 – February 2023
Translational Molecular Imaging and Theranostics Laboratory (TMT Lab)
Seoul National University
Advisor: Hyung-Jun Im, MD, PhD
- Conducted and compared spatial transcriptomics techniques, MERFISH and Visium, in mouse brain samples to evaluate their performance and suitability.
- Executed laboratory techniques such as cell culture, subculturing, cell counting, and nucleic acid quantification using Nanodrop; documented all procedures and results in detailed lab reports.
- Selected as the final top 5 out of 35 interns, leading to an oral presentation about the research project.
Jobs outside research
- Math academy teacher of middle school to high school students.
- English academy teacher of elementary to high school students.
- A personal TOEIC tutor for undergraduate students in Korea.
- Assistant teacher in kids cafe, teaching and ensuring the safety of children under age 10.
